History

Function and powers

As primus inter pares, the Chief Justice is responsible for serving as chair during deliberations of the Judicial Committee of the Executive Council and has the right to be first to voice his opinion. In the event of an evenly divided opinion amongst justices, the opinion of the Chief Justice prevails. As with all other Justices of New Ingerland's courts, appointment is until the mandatory retirement age of seventy-five, and new appointments cannot be made if a candidate has reached the age of seventy[1].
