Liberalism is a major political and social philosophy in New Ingerland. Liberals promote the rights of the individual, and advocate personal freedom, free markets, and limited government intervention in the economy. Although there are many factions and variants of liberalism in New Ingerland, the dominant form of the ideology is conservative liberalism, which combines individual freedoms within the existing social and political institutions of the state. Many liberals see the government and church as instruments of good which can be used to improve the lives of those who are disadvantaged.

New Ingerland's liberals are chiefly opposed by conservatives, and to a lesser extent social democrats.
