Prince Arthur, Lord High Steward GK ADC(P) EC (Arthur Geoffrey Earnest David[1]; born 15 June 1977) is the eldest son of Geoffrey VII and Princess Amelia, and is first in the order of succession to the throne.

Early life and education

Prince Arthur was born in the infirmary of the Winburgh Palace on the 15 June 1977. By all accounts, the prince was over two weeks premature, and his arrival was an unexpected surprise to the court. Despite the suddenness of his arrival, both mother and baby were given a clean bill of health after the delivery. The prince was christened in St Oswalds's Chapel by The Very Rev. Benedict Nicholls, the Dean of Winster on the 13 July 1977. His godparents were HRH The Duchess of Slanshire and the Duke of Slanshire from his father's family, and Mr and Mrs Anthony Johnson from his mother's.

The prince received private tutoring at Winburgh Palace during first form in the years 1983-1986. He then attended Wansford College for the remainder of his schooling. For six months during 1994, the prince was an exchange student to Kingsbury Boys High, New Ingerland. After completing his national service in 1996, he was accepted in to University of Winburgh and undertook a degree in Social Science, which he graduated with 2:1 Honours in 2001.

Military career

With the completion of his tertiary education, the prince enlisted in the Royal Air Force. After his training at the Royal Air Staff College in November 2002, the prince was posted as a Flight Engineer to 10 Squadron at RAF Asterby. In October 2003, the crown prince was promoted to Lieutenant.

Marriage

On the 23 November 2009, the Prince announced his engagement to Miss Samantha Chamberlain, whom he has described as "my closest friend and companion". The two met at the university in their first year of study, and quickly became friends and not long afterward developed a close companionship.

The couple were married in the Winburgh Cathedral on the 3 September 2010, with the service was conducted by the Archbishop of Winburgh, the Most Reverend Michael Thomas. Upon their marriage, Miss Chamberlain was granted the status of Princess of New Ingerland, and became Her Highness Princess Samantha of Winburgh, after the Prince's herititary ducal title. Festivities for the wedding were held in Winburgh Palace. The couple spent their honeymoon in Germany and France.

To date, Arthur and Samantha have one child, Prince Earnest of Winburgh, who was born in Winburgh on 6 February 2012. He was christened by the Dean of Winster, The Very Reverend Damian Hopkins on 1 March 2012.

Hobbies and personal interests

The Prince maintains a number of interests both as a part of his work with charities and as personal hobbies.

The Prince is also Patron of over a hundred charities, many of which relate to his personal interests, while others involve him in the wider role as the heir to the throne.
