The Centralia Bulldogs are a semi-professional rugby league team based in both Philipstown and Shepton, Centralia that play in the Rugby League Championship. Established through the merger of the West Riding and Central Riding in 1956, the club is a founding member of the modern national competition established in 1976. Their home playing colours are red and blue.

History

The antecedents to the Bulldogs were the West Riding and Central Riding representative clubs, both of which had been established in 1911.

By the 1950s, both leagues were struggling financially, and in 1956 the two agreed to merge, forming the current league and it's Championship team. Initial plans would also have merged the much stronger and successful Metropolitan RFL as well to form an All-Centralia side, but resistance from supporters led to this plan being abandoned.

Despite the long history as a merged entity, the two former leagues live on in the annual Wests vs Middles representative match held over the Labour Day long-weekend in early July.
