The Governor-General of New Ingrea is the representative of the New Ingerish monarch (currently Geoffrey VII). As The King cannot reside in all his realms, he appoints representatives to carry out her duties as King of New Ingrea. Governors-General serve their term at His Majesty's pleasure, usually five years. They are responsible for appointing the Prime Minister, as well as other government ministers after consultation with the Prime Minister.

The institution of the Governor-General was established in 1907, when New Ingrea became an independent dominion. Before that, the King (as monarch of Ingrea) was represented in New Ingrea by the Resident Commissioner of New Ingrea.

Government House in Kingsbury is the official residence of governors-general. The current Governor-General is Dame Philippa Holroyd.
