The New Ingrean general election of 1946 was held on Saturday, 8 June 1946. Held on the last possible date, the now unpopular National Party government led by Peter Wright, was comprehensively defeated by the Labour Party, led by Peter Sims. The election marked the first time that a social democratic party was able to form office in New Ingrea.
