The Veivers Memo was a document written by Alexander Veivers, the last Resident Commissioner of New Ingerland that outlined the conditions upon which independence would be granted to New Ingerland.

Overview

The memo placed four demands on the New Ingerish before independence would be granted:

  • a mutual assistance treaty with Britain;
  • a new constitution;
  • a fairer electoral system, and;
  • the removal of all anti-Catholic legislation.
