The Attorney-General of New Ingerland is a constitutional officer who is the official adviser to the Government of New Ingerland in matters of law. The holder of the position is responsible for the administration of the Attorney-General's Chambers and it's subsidiary offices. The current Attorney-General of New Ingerland is Sir Austin Nicholson KC.
History
Function and role
The office of the Attorney-General has a four separate functions it is required to perform. In the course of discharging these duties, the Attorney-General is assisted by four law officers, namely:
- the Solicitor-General, who acts as senior legal adviser to the Government of New Ingerland;
- the Chief Crown Prosecutor, who heads the Office of Crown Prosecutions;
- the King's Proctor, who represents the Crown in the ecclesiastical courts of the Ingerian Church of New Ingerland; and
- the Parliamentary Counsel, who heads the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel.
