The B80 is a significant primary road linking Kingsbury and the Central Plateau to the Waiparu River valley and the western reaches of Aldenshire. Following the route of a Ngati Mōri path, the road was steadily upgraded in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, before being proclaimed a "B" route in 1926.
