Vice Admiral Sir Francis King KM DSC (born 8 June 1955) a senior officer of the Royal New Ingrean Navy and the incumbent Chief of the Defence Force Staff. King has been a career sailor, having joined the senior service in 1973. His first command was that of the minesweeper HMGS Williamsdene in 1982. Subsequent commands have seen King rise to be squadron commander and later fleet commander before he was made Chief of the Naval Staff in 2010. He was made Chief of the Defence Force Staff and promoted to vice admiral on the 4 May 2013.
