The Lord Chamberlain of the Household (full title: Lord Chamberlain of the Household in the Dominion of New Ingrea) is an ad hoc high office in New Ingrea called out of abeyance only for royal tours by the Sovereign, when the incumbent is head of the Royal Household; and during a coronation, when the Lord Chamberlain is responsible for organising the New Ingrea delegation.
History
The office of Lord Chamberlain has it's origins in the Ingrea, and is thought to date back to at least the early 13th century[1].
Function and role
Appointed by the Sovereign, the Lord Chamberlain is the chief executive of the court and is responsible for organising all court functions during an official royal tour to New Ingrea. The office dates back to the first royal tour in 1890, when Lord Lowan was given a title consummate to role he was being asked to perform during the first royal tour of an Ingerish sovereign to all parts of the empire. For the coronation of Earnest V in 1918, the office was again revived to oversee the preparations for the event at home, and to lead to delegation of New Ingerish to Winburgh to participate in the event.
By convention, the Lord Chamberlain is always a peer and is also made a member of the Executive Council upon his appointment. There have been just seven Lord Chamberlains since the office was established. The present incumbent is The Lord Manley, who was appointed on the 6 August 2006.
