The Royal New Ingrean Rangers (RNIRg) is a mountain warfare unit of the New Ingrean Army, head-quartered at Kingsbury, Centralia. Amongst the country's oldest military units, the regiment fulfils a dual role as both the ceremonial guard of the capital and the Army’s specialist formation for mountain and rugged terrain warfare.
History
The regiment's roots lie in the mid-19th-century City of Kingsbury Volunteer Corps, a "gentlemen’s corps" drawn largely from the city’s professional and mercantile middle class.
Organisation
At present, the regiment is arranged into the following battalions:
- Regimental HQ & 1st Battalion (1RNIRg), Kingsbury – Ceremonial duties
- 2nd Battalion (2RNIRg), Swanbrook – Mountain/Polar warfare
- 3rd Battalion (3RNIRg), Lunenborough – Mountain/Polar warfare
