RTNI Television is the national public television network of New Ingrea. The network was founded as the National Television Service under the provisions of the Television Broadcasting Act of 1963[1], and was the first television network to be launched when it went on air in February 1964. Today, RTNI Television is the largest of the three networks that operate in New Ingrea, and has it's headquarters and primary playout centre at the RTNI Media Centre, Kingsbury.

History

Initially, the three stations that formed the network operated with a degree of independence from one another. This was made necessary by the limited availability of microwave and satellite connections in the early and mid 1960s. However, by the late 60s, it was possible for the stations to communicate instantly, and many services and productions were centralised.

Channels

RTNI has four regular channels that broadcast domestically:

  • RTNI 1 – The primary channel of the network, RTNI 1 provides a broad mix of comedy and drama, chat shows, documentaries, arts, and religious programmes, and well as the flagship nightly news bulletin. RTNI HD simulcasts the channel in high definition.
  • RTNI 2 – Dedicated to popular entertainment, including comedy, drama, and documentaries; the channel also broadcasts a variety of programming from childrens shows, lifestyle programs, sporting fixtures, to reality series. International programs are also broadcast, but are limited to not exceed 33% of the channel's content.
  • RTNI News – The primary 24-hour news channel, RTNI News broadcasts news, current affairs, and other factual programs.
  • RTNI PAC – Provided under agreement from the Parliament of New Ingrea, RTNI PAC broadcasts sittings of Parliament, as well as other politics related content including speeches, press conferences, and political analysis.
