Dams and reservoirs

The River Panton is dammed at the beginning of the Panton Gorge by the Pantonthwaite Dam. The reservoir created by the dam is known as the Lake Brabrazon, and water from it is used to generate hydro-electricity through a power station located on the dam, and by also diverting water into the Georges River system. This system consists of the Georges River I and Georges River II power stations, the former of which utilises pumped-storage hydro-electricity.

The water from the Panton Reservoir is also used as an emergency supply to top-up the Greater Kingsbury water supply in time of extreme drought. When needed, water can be piped into Taumata Reservoir, and from there into the Kingsbury water supply.
