The Kingsbury Football Club, nicknamed the Roosters, are a Huruball club that play in the NIFA Superleague 1. As of the 2015 season, the Roosters have won fifteen premierships, the most recent being in 2016.
History
Formation and early years
The Kingsbury Football Club can be traced back to the 1880s, when former miners coming off the Hillsborough and Emmaville goldfields began to settle in the national capital. Initially scrath matches were played on an ad-hoc basis, attracting the support of the local population in the game for the first time. In January 1886, football supporters in the city met at the Gatehouse Hotel with an interest in forming a football club, with the outcome being the Kingsbury Football Club being constituted at the meeting.
A local competition based mostly in the East Riding, but also initially including teams from Shepton and Langford was formed in 1888. Kingsbury were the inaugural champions, and went on to win a further premiership in 1891.
The national competition
In March 1891, several football clubs, including Kingsbury, announced their intention to form a single national competition the following year. The clubs together formed the National Football Association (NFA), which took charge of organising what would become the NIFA Superleague 1. The NFA received over forty applications for admission over the course of the year, of which ten clubs (including Kingsbury), were issued with an invitation to play in the 1892 season.
The club enjoyed good results in its first few seasons, finishing fourth in 1892 and 1893, third in 1894, and fourth again in 1895. After another third place finish in 1896, the club managed to overcome the highly-fancied favourites Port Frederick in 1897, winning their first premiership 8 goals to 6. The premiership was a high-water mark for the club for the decade, and afterwards there was a slow decline in fortunes for the club. After a defeat in the 1898 grand final at the hands of Corfe Harbour, Kingsbury failed to make the finals for four consecutive years, and took the wooden spoon in 1903 and 1904.

Mascot
The mascot of the club since the 1940s has been the Rooster. Prior to the adoption of animal mascots by most clubs, Kinsgbury was known simply as the Tricolours after their red-white-blue jumper.
Club jumper
Since joining the NIFA Superleague 1, Kingsbury have worn a red, white, and blue jumper. The exact design has been modified a couple of times, with several changes to the design having occurred in the club's early years. The current guernsey dating to the beginning of the 2004 season.
