The Eastern Main Line is the principal railway line between Kingsbury and Port Frederick. Along with the North Coast Main Line, Central Main Line, Cross Country Main Line, and Southern Main Line, the Eastern Main Line is one of the major trunk lines that form the basis of the New Ingerland railway network. Along the 161 1⁄2 miles (259.9 kilometres) line, the railway also services the towns of Sarum, Langford, St Clair, Willowdene, Tobinvale, Ellenborough, Huntington, and Ossulstone.
The line was the last of major trunk lines to be built, and traverses some of the most difficult terrain anywhere in New Ingerland. The completion of the line in 1933 was the greatest engineering feat undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works and Railways.
