The New Ingrea general election of 1943 was held on Saturday, 17 April 1943. Held under strict war-time conditions, the mood in New Ingrea was significantly less buoyant after the entry of Japan into the war in December 1941. Nevertheless, with the threat of imminent invasion having passed, an election was called. The election resulted in the National Party government, led by Donald Burleigh, was able to narrowly defeat the opposition Labour Party, led by Peter Sims.
