Sprint Rail is the principal intercity passenger rail operator in New Ingrea, serving all regions of the country. Sprint operates all long distance rail services, and also provides coach services in areas without an operating railway line. Initially established as a crown corporation, Sprint Rail is today a division of New Ingrean Railways (NIR).

History

Sprint Rail was initially established as a crown corporation in May 1995, and was registered with the National Companies and Securities Commission, as Sprint Transport Limited. Under the original policies of the Tudor government, it was intended that the company would be privatised, along with all other assets of the New Ingrean Railways.

However, changing attitudes toward free-market neo-liberalism, and performance concerns led to the Howlett government reversing course, and reincorporating the organisation in to NIR in 2010.

From the point of view of nomenclature, the organisation has always used the trading name of Sprint Rail. Informally, both inside and outside the company, it is known simply as Sprint.
