The Right Honourable John Phillip Alexander Braddock, 2nd Earl Braddock KC (born 1 August 1958) is a Democratic Party politician and member of the Senate. A canon lawyer by profession, Braddock entered Parliament in 2004 and has served as the Deputy Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs since 2012.

John succeeded his father as the Earl Braddock in 2006. Prior to this, he known by the courtesy title of Lord Ripley, so named for the family seat of Ripley Grange near the village of Hargrave in Centralia.

Birth and schooling

John Braddock was born in Kingsbury on the 1 August 1958, the eldest child of Jonathan Braddock and Jane Braddock (née Burdett). John's birth was the first child born by a sitting Opposition Leader since independence.

When his father was elevated to the peerage in 1976, Lord Ripley received his own grant of arms, which was identical to those of his father differenced with a label azure.
