The Gallantry Medal is the third highest gallantry decoration in New Ingrea. Established as part of the reorganisation of the New Ingrean honours system in 1972, the is awarded to members of the New Ingrean Defence Force in recognition of acts of gallantry in action in hazardous circumstance, including warlike operational service such as Assembly of Nations peacekeeping. To date, there have been just 21 recipients of the award.
Arthur V established the Gallantry Medal by letters patent on the 6 March 1972, along with the other decorations for gallantry and bravery. Along with these decorations, it is possible for bars to be awarded to the Gallantry Medal in recognition of the performance of further acts of bravery meriting the award. Recipients are entitled to the postnominal letters GM.
Description
- The Gallantry Medal is a gold-plated silver medal, measuring 1 1⁄2 inches (38 mm) in diameter. It is ensigned with the Crown of New Ingrea.
- The obverse has the effigy of Geoffrey VII within the Royal Style of GALFRIDUS VII DEI GRATIA NOVA INGERIA REX.
- The reverse is the inscription FOR GALLANTRY which is superimposed on a circle of flame.
- The ribbon is blood-red in colour with three narrow vertical stripes of maroon down the centre.
