Mentioned in Dispatches is awarded to personnel for gallantry or otherwise commendable service, and strictly speaking is not part of the Orders, decorations, and medals of New Ingrea, although it often included for the sake of convenience. Being Mentioned in Dispatches takes the form of being named in a report from a senior military commander in the New Ingrean Defence Force to his superiors, detailing the conduct of military operations. If a subordinate officer or soldier performs a noteworthy or commendable action his commanding officer will name him and outline what actions he carried out. The names Mentioned in Dispatches are then published in the Kingsbury Gazette either during the campaign or afterwards if there are security concerns.
The act of being Mention in Despatches can be made posthumously, and it is not uncommon for soldiers to be mentioned on multiple occasions. The award entitles the recipient to a wear a bronze oak leaf on the campaign medal of the conflict in which the commendation took place. If no campaign medal is awarded, the oak leaf is worn on the left breast of dress uniform.
